Labouring in the ministry has a reward not only in this life but in the life to come, too. When we get to heaven, we shall receive two crowns: the crown of service and the crown of salvation.   Everyone deep in their hearts yearns to live for something bigger and greater than themselves, and ministry is such a thing. It transcends the earthly into eternity. For many years to come, your ministry will be touching thousands just like some of God's generals.    Many who do not engage in the ministry are compared to children.  Children are naturally consumers and not producers. If you still live that way, you are a child in a big person's body.  Children are also very dependent people; even when they wet themselves, they need someone to clean them up. ...

1 Corinthians 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. Paul talks to beloved brethren.   If we can put it in context, he was referring to those who were labouring and working tirelessly for the Lord. On top of that they are stedfast, unmoveable.  Many believers operate like balloons; they are inflated and deflated at the same time. At one point, they are on fire for God; at another point, they are not. They do not have staying power. But this is not in ministry alone. Statistics show that Uganda is one of the most entrepreneurial nations of the world yet most of such business start ups fail to make it to their first birthday.       Mat 11:28-30  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. The Lord gives rest in a certain way. How does it do it? By offloading us with yokes and burdens and loading us with His yoke and burden, which is the ministry burden.  Many are not enjoying their Christian life simply because they have not fully carried the yoke that Jesus gives. Since there is no neutral ground for them to occupy, the  enemy takes advantage and loads them with his burdens. You will be loaded with either one or the other. The enemy cannot load you with a burden if you have the Lord’s burden already. Jeremiah 30:19.   And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.  God is going to make you merry and, at the same time, multiply you as you accomplish His purpose, which becomes your purpose in life.  Many motivational speakers ask people to write down their vision or purpose, but they fail to reveal that God should ultimately give you His purpose, which should become your purpose for you to be fulfilled in life. If such a motivational speaker does not believe in God, then that makes it worse. They will point people to themselves as if they are an end in themselves. Yet the Bible is clear that it is not in man to direct his steps. Act_13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: Many Bible characters served their purpose during their time. Right from Abraham, Moses, David, etc. Esther, too, whom we wrote a lot about yesterday in her position as the queen, also served her purpose. Esther 4:13-14  Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? God has a purpose for each of us. But many do not know what that purpose is, and they end up misusing their lives or wandering from this to that without clearly defining or even having a sense of calling in what they are on. John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives." The Peace we receive from God through the Holy Spirit is different from that which the world gives. True peace is not what you do on the outside or from the environment but it is from the inside.  The world will tell you to seek peace by getting yourself a massage, listen to soft music or go far away where you will be quiet and all alone. But you cannot have all these at all times. If you are a nursing mother or taking care of toddlers, expect noise and shouting, if you are in a workplace, there are times when you won't see things the same way with your colleagues, if you take a taxi, the conductor may speak unkind words to you, if you live in a rented place, the landlord can put you off, the list is endless.  But how can one have peace, an inner sense of rest and calm at such times and not through the impossible way of avoidance of conflict or troubling situations that ...

John 14:26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. The Holy Spirit brings things to your remembrace simply because He's loving and caring.  Those of you who reach an exam and forget. You need the Holy Spirit to remind you what you read. There even small things like forgetting to turn off the gas, locking your door of the house or car. These some small but can be fatal.  Professionals too can do life threatening mistakes. 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we [him] no more. A pastor and a physics teacher do almost the same thing, teaching but the difference is that the physics teacher is one who speaks to the mind while a pastor speaks to the hearts of men. It would be a shock to hear that someone in a physics class told his teacher that the physics they have been taught have touched their heart. But we always hear it every now and then that the people we preach to God's word have been touched by the messages we preach.  God's Word, which is taught on the pulpits is Spirit and life and we should endeavour to relate to it spiritually. Psalms 103:1-3 [A Psalm] of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, [bless] his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Christianity is to be enjoyed and celebrated on a daily basis. But do you know that many do not enjoy life in general nor their Christian life because of not having fully grasped what is theirs in salvation.  Sometimes it is primarily due to wrong teaching or no teaching at all in these areas. Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: When something is complete, it is complete. There's nothing that can be added to it to make it better than it is. For example when you buy a complete set of saucepans, they come with their covers and you need not to  buy them separately.  Even scientists have what they call a complete circuit. When one has a complete circuit, there is a flow of current.  Likewise when we say a believer is complete, it means he needs nothing added to him to make him complete. Faith in Christ alone has accomplished that, hallelujah!.

Exodus 33:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. In the old testament God related to some people as His friends. This is quiet different from heathen gods which neither spoke or were moved by people's issues and yet enacted punishment for disobedience. This could be the way some believers relate with God today.  The Bible says that God could not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah unless He first shared that fact with Abraham. Moses too received communication from God as a man would talk to their friend. Adam communed with God every evening! If you pause to think about it, how would such an intimacy affect you? Your faith, confidence, security and boasting would rise to the roof!  Men in the natural love to boast being friends with other great men of this world. Romans 5:8-10 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. God is good because he has demonstrated it by loving us enough and dying for our sins on the cross. If we were enemies and He demonstrated His great love for us, how much more now that we are His children? Won't He love us much more?  It is hypocrisy for someone to love a neighbour's child more than their own child. We are God's children by faith in His Son Jesus. And because of that we receive abundance of love from Him, hallelujah. 

Isaiah 43:2 When thou passest through the waters, I [will be] with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Challenges are inevitable in this life, but the answer lies with God seeing us through them. His goodness is seen when we not only survive but thrive in the midst of them. The very things that would make other people faint will not make you faint.  When you know you have a good God, there is stability. Look at how children behave, they are ever confident of their fathers. They always believe their fathers are working on their requests. They believe they have the strongest dad in the world. They have no care of what goes on or how big it may be. All they know that they have their dad will take care of that business. 1 Corinthians 1:3 Grace [be] unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and [from] the Lord Jesus Christ. We are at peace because of what Jesus did for us. What did Jesus do? He gave us a relationship with God and that ended the war between God and man. You see man because of the fall still thinks God is still angry at Him. But God is not in a bad mood at all because Jesus paid for man's redemption. He received the wrath of God on behalf of man and that brought peace between God and man, hallelujah.  Not only do we have peace with God, we also have the peace of God that exceeds all human understanding and this alone keeps us lively, healthy and enables us to have good relations with others.  The work of redemption was completely finished. There is nothing pending. Jesus saved us and saved us completely. Never have any shadow of a doubt that God hates you or that He is against you. He is for you. Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: God is good to us and has granted the believer peace that surpasses all human understanding. Watch out when you have no peace in your heart. It may be a sign that God is speaking something in particular about what you are doing or how you are doing it. The peace you have from the Lord will grant you good health in your physical body. Some people are not that wealthy but the mere fact that they have peace, they look more young, healthy than some who are seemingly more wealthy than them.  Peace does not come by itself. There some things which trigger it. Some of those is being grateful. Being grateful for what you have at the moment enables you live at peace. We are not at the same level of achievement, but a discontent person even when they have much, will never be at peace no matter what happens to them on the outside. No amount of material wealth will bring them a peace of mind....

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: God has made us right with Himself. This is extremely good news because we could not measure up to His standard of righteousness portrayed by the law.  Most religions including some who profess Christianity advocate for a "do right and be right with God" kind of relating with God. This puts the burden of salvation upon the performance of the adherents to such religions. On the other hand true Bible faith, says believe right and then be made right with God independent of your actions. All this is because of God's goodness who wants all to be saved whether they have any previous morally good life or not. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. God works all things for our good especially those who love Him and the called according to His purpose. Many claim the promise of this scripture but miss the point it is making and the people it is addressed to.  The scripture is addressed to those who love God. Many do not love God and do not live God honouring lives neither have they surrendered themselves to the Lordship of Jesus but think it will work for them as well.  This is not to say that those that love God should intentionally enter into tempting situations or situations that land them into trouble and claim the promise of this scripture. However its an encouragement that whatever happens to us, good or bad, God will use that situation to work it together for our good, hallelujah. 

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Child of God, your God has good plans for each one of us. Although there are things which happen beyond our comprehension, we need to trust God even when we are unaware of the details. You may not know everything, you literally do not need to know why, how, of things but know for certain that God is good. Some believers ask, "why do bad things happen to good people?" You may go on a search to discover the nitty gritties. But whether you get to know or you don't, God still remains good, seated on His throne. Trust God. He knows.  I have discovered that people go at great lengths to ask questions which even when they get the answer, they will never get the full satisfaction like one who simply rests and trusts God. Psalms 100:5 For the LORD [is] good; his mercy [is] everlasting; and his truth [endureth] to all generations. If you have been in Christianity, you must have heard about the attributes of God. These are simply the qualities of God. One of them is that God is good.  One of the God's generals Oral Roberts popularised the term by saying, "God is a good God and the devil is a bad devil." This creates a serious line between what God does and what the devil does.  God is good in and of Himself. His nature is good. No trace of evil can be found in Him. Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD [is] good: blessed [is] the man [that] trusteth in him. Today's blog is an encouragement to all who may be passing through tough times that God is good even in such times. He is not the author of problems, but He is the solution.  You need to see light at the end of the dark tunnel you may be going through, and this should encourage you not to give up on life. If you give up, you will definitely not win, but if you stay hopeful, you will end up winning.  Expect that something good is about to happen anytime because God is a good God. Remember the Up In Out strategy?  The Up strategy includes things like Prayer which aligns the team and individual to God's heart. The IN is the rhythm we have when we fellowship with each other. This happens either indoor or outdoor. Since we are a family of disciples, it is important to loosen up, eat, play and have fun times. It should not be business as usual during those times but the aim is to connect with each other deeply.  Jesus called his disciples to rest and have times alone with them. He visited their homes and saw their kinsmen. The Bible for example records that he healed Peter's mother in law. It means he had gone to visit Peter. He dinned with them on various occasions. Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. There's a famous strategy Mike Breen talks about in his book building a discipling culture called the up-in-out that Jesus and the apostles used when they were about the mission of spreading the gospel on the earth.  Jesus depended on God entirely for the success of his ministry. His up was prayer. The Bible records times when he spent all night in prayer to God. The disciples also did the same.  We need the corporate times as well as the individual times of prayer to get Strengthened and receive direction from our heavenly Father. Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. How did Jesus start a movement that is still expanding today? Did He use force, or the established religious system of the day? He did not use any of those but ordinary men and women to extend his mission.  Likewise, what can we learn from Jesus that we can use to expand His mission wherever we find ourselves? The mission was not to do charity or philanthropy but to spread the Gospel to the uttermost parts of the world.  Any family has things that they do together on a regular basis. (Php 2:22)NKJV But ye know his proven character, that as a son with [his] father, he hath served with me in the gospel.  The success of discipleship endeavours are all hinged on character. If it's a building, then character is like the main pillar for the building to stand. As one under discipleship, you are going nowhere without a good character however gifted you may be. No one likes to disciple, mentor or apprentice anyone who has character flaws. Such cannot take long in a discipling relationship.  To change your character, accept correction, rebukes, and instruction in those areas where you are weak from your discipler. And I am sure Timothy got a good dose of them from Paul. If the character is good, your gift will be enjoyed by many without offending them.  A good character shapes you into a true son in the faith. For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's. Proverbs 2:11-12 NKJV [11] Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, [12] To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things,"  Just like wisdom, knowledge and understanding are profitable. Discretion too is profitable. In fact, wisdom is usually used as a synonym of discretion.  However, in simple terms discretion is more like common sense, having the wisdom to know what to say when,  to whom to say  or what to do, when to do and how to do but it mainly deals with speech.  We ought to know the right things to say at a particular moment and our actions will be guided. Take an example of Joseph at that moment when Portiphar's  wife wanted him to sin. Because Joseph was discreet, his actions were guided rightly. Numbers 28:26 “Also in the day of the firstfruits, when ye bring a new meat offering unto the LORD, after your weeks be out, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work:”     God expects us to give the first fruit of all our increase or you may call them new sources of income. What does the Bible mean by that? It meant that if someone was harvesting amount X every year, it means when God increases them by X+1, they would have to give an amount which is the difference between (X+1) - X = +1 as a first fruit. This may be a salary increase or extra profits. If that increase is happening in the middle of the year the following month is when you should give it. This is so honouring to God for the increase He has brought your way. Numbers 18:12 “All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer unto the LORD, them have I given thee.” Firstfruit in the Bible were meant to be given to God but received by and eaten by the priests who served in the temple. Since it was meant to be eaten, I wonder if the believers could bring a bad harvest knowing full well that someone would consume it, moreover their priest.
